What's in it for you if your coin or logo design is picked?
Well, first off there's the fame and the adoration of the opposite sex.....
Realistically, I can't promise much. I'll probably lose money on the coins, but I still want to do this even if they don't make it to the first event.
So, how about a couple free coins for the winning designs? (1 Degree of Separation coin, & 1 Snoogans coin to the winners.) Oh, and a free sample of whatever else your design is used for. (Who knows, the logo could end up as a t-shirt or sumthin'.)
Of the first run of One Degree of Separation coins, about 150 will be trackable and the rest will probably just be numbered.....
Things are subject to change rapidly and without notice once I start the process of groundspeak approval and then dust off my wallet to get the coins minted, but there's a potential for one person to pick up 4 coins if their logo and coin design both win.
I will make the final decision on coin and logo design and again, the prize is subject to change. (I.E.- If after minting the one degree coins, I elect NOT to make a Snoogans coin, the prize would be 1 GC.com trackable One Degree coin and 1 non-GC.com One Degree coin. Get it?)

I'm going to tryyyy to get the discussion moved over here. It's hard keeping a train of thought straight with discussions going on on several boards.....
I disagree. I already considered your solution before the project launched. The ODS: Prime account is the only way to bring the entire project as it sets on geocaching.com into one spot. The ODS travel bugs would be left out of your solution. There are many more options to tie the project together using an SP account than a bookmark.
Also, my money is on less than 4,000 of the caches getting placed. Actually, more like 2,000. I doubt the outcry will be great over ODSP's stats. The project is viewed as community building by TPTB, but they may just shut ODSP down to spite me. I wouldn't put that past 'em in light of recent debate.
I agree that ODS Prime logging everything is the best way to keep track of everything, but I wouldn't like to see him as FTF on my caches either. Even when a friend is with me when I hide a cache, I make them wait til FTF is logged before they log it. and I do the same if I'm present when a cache is hidden.
I totally agree. I was two weeks behind and the Snoogstress was bugging me to get some work (I promised to have done) finished and I logged 40+ caches in about 20 minutes.
In addition to th OP's two caches, I just went back and changed two more to notes until the FTF is claimed.
This was totally MY fault, but I'm glad that this shows my feedback system works.
I appreciate ALL constructive feedback whether positive or negative.
There are now 3 more with notes awaiting FTF. This project is growing BY THE HOUR!

The fake logging debate is apples and oranges from the purpose of ODS: PRIME! ODSP Exists to log only one type of cache. The finds could NOT be considered number pumping in ANY way....

Let me see if I understand. We are to take the PODs to our "local" area and from there others will take the seeds to other locations.
Yes.

Will there be multiple PODs available to each person?
No. We wish to disperse the pods as widely as possible. You will need to TRY to hide your seed pod at least 20 miles (as the crow flies) from any other seed pod already hidden in your area. The seeds themselves can go anywhere.
If all 200+ seed pod caches don't get adopted at the main event, the remainder will be available during GW4 the next day.

Also I have an international trip coming up. Will these PODs be allowed to be placed outside our normal local area?
Vacation caches are not allowed on GC.com. You must be able to maintain your cache.

Quite a bit of time and effort (not to mention money) was expended to prepare 200+ seed pods containing 10,000+ micro, seed caches to give away at the main One Degree of Separation event on 5/26/06.
It was a volunteer effort and the volunteers did this in hopes of seeing their namesake seed pod caches travel far and wide.
We fully expect 50% (or more) of the micro caches to disappear and never be hidden as a cache in this project, but we would like to see all of the seed pods hidden within 6 months of the event and linked to this forum.
Those who sign up for this forum and post a response to this thread will be assured to receive a seed pod cache, on the day of the event, no matter what time you arrive. A cache will be saved for you until the last minute of the event.
By signing up for this forum and posting to this thread you are pledging to hide the seed pod cache that you receive with the namesake of the volunteer who prepared it for you. You further pledge to hide the cache using the ODS template, within 6 months of the event and link it to this forum.
Please post a brief note to this thread to show the volunteers that their time and effort was worthwhile.
I'm very much looking forward to it. I'll be there for sure. Do you want the caches placed in Texas or do you want them spread across the country? I'm a cross country truck driver and can place one in just about any state I want to go to. Nice huh? Lord knows there aren't nearly enough caches out west.
There will be at least 10,000+ caches in the project. I HOPE to get one in as many states and countrys as possible.
You can place as many as you like as long as you can maintain them.
